2018 Land Use Update

This year’s Land Use Update focuses on hot topics targeted by recent cases and legislation. The opioid crisis has led to the ubiquitous presence of Sober Recovery Homes, leaving many local governments and neighborhoods grappling with whether and how to deal with them. The City of Prescott saw a reduction in the number and an increase in the quality of Sober Recovery Homes after its adoption of a city ordinance regulating them. But now the Arizona Legislature is considering new legislation that could preempt or significantly restrict local regulation of Sober Recovery Homes. A disability law specialist and two local government officials will discuss the status and best practices of this evolving land use law topic.
