Flagstaff Council opts for bond to fast-track Lone Tree railroad overpass

The Flagstaff City Council directed city staff to pursue bond financing to pay for the biggest ticket item proposed by the Citizens Transportation Tax Commission: the Lone Tree Railroad Overpass.

The reasons: It would be cheaper than pay-as-you-go financing and construction could start as early as five years after voters approve the bonds.

In a presentation to the city council Tuesday night, Management Services Director Rick Tadder told the council even with the increased cost of financing the project with a bond, it would still save the city tens of millions of dollars because the project would be delivered sooner and the city could head off inflation.
