O’Halleran challenger bows out of CD1 race

A candidate challenging U.S. Rep. Tom O’Halleran in the Democratic primary has withdrawn from the race.

Miguel Olivas formally submitted a voluntary withdrawal form on Wednesday with the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office, ending his candidacy in Arizona’s 1st Congressional District.

On the ASOS website, Olivas was listed as one of the candidates whose nomination petition was being challenged in court.

Former Pinal County Attorney James Walsh, a Democrat, filed a lawsuit in Maricopa County Superior Court against Olivas on Tuesday.
