A developer has withdrawn the application to build a controversial 249-unit apartment complex in Gilbert.
The proposal has drawn emotional and heated opposition from residents. One woman at a recent council meeting wondered whether the town was becoming Los Angeles (a city 16 times its size). Another was near tears as she spoke against it.
The community response was enough to stop the council from approving the developer’s application for a conditional use permit to build the four-storyCity Gate Apartments.
