Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey called the separation of kids from their parents at the border “unnecessary” and said that’s not the only immigration issue that needs to be addressed.

“I’ve been calling on Congress for some time to have some type of immigration reform,” Ducey told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Arizona Morning News on Tuesday. “I think everyone knows that I’m very supportive of border security. But it seems that this separation of families is unnecessary.”
Ducey lamented the fact that immigration problems have been lingering for several administrations.

“They haven’t been able to get anything done now for over a decade, both Republicans and Democrats alike,” he said. “But maybe with this coming to a head there can be some movement on reform.”
