What the home building community thinks about the California solar mandate. The new requirement could mean the “difference between a person being able to qualify to build a home or not.” OR: With electricity bills in California skyrocketing, it could be a “welcome addition for many buyers.” Head honchos from Lennar and the California Building Industry Association weigh in on the impact of the new rule, in Solar Power World. http://bit.ly/2K0eOuk

In vogue: Two more home builders are merging. “The purchase of Wade Jurney Homes by Century Communities means the creation of one of the largest home builders in the U.S.,” resulting in a “geographic expansion” that includes “the Midwest, Arizona and Texas” where Century has “already begun acquiring lots.” HousingWire via Professional Builder. http://bit.ly/2I4rKxt

New financing plan proposed for $60M Mesa complex. “Mesa is hoping taxpayers kick the Mesa Plays sports complex across the goal line after a shift in financing placed the tax burden on out-of-town patrons [via a ‘1 percent increase in bed taxes paid by hotel and motel guests’] for the much awaited, much debated $55 million facility.” East Valley Tribune. http://bit.ly/2tlOsvJ

Investment dollars flow into Yavapai County. “The survey from [SmartAsset] looked at four factors: Businesses established over a three-year period, real growth (adjusted for inflation), new building permits, and federal funding.” The findings: Only Maricopa and Pinal counties ranked higher than Yavapai “in terms of incoming investments” and “number of building permits issued.” The Daily Courier. http://bit.ly/2ymBh3x

Pollack: Economy still booming. “This is true despite the fact that stimulus from tax cuts and increases in government spending have yet to completely work their way through the system.” But the Monday Morning Quarterback says keep an eye on the “the yield curve” — if it “flattens too much,” the “expansion would be at risk.” Plus, huddle-up with data for these ‘Snapshots’ —> U.S.: Retail & Food Service, Consumer Sentiment, Manufacturing, CPI-U, Industrial Production. AZ: Single-Family Permits, Listings & Prices — Phoenix/Tucson. http://bit.ly/2yyTKtR

Sportsmen push to keep uranium mining ban near Grand Canyon. Trout Unlimited and the Arizona Wildlife Federation have launched a billboard campaign around Phoenix that calls on Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke to “ ‘save the Grand Canyon from uranium mining.’ ” HOWEVER: “One advocate” in this Cronkite Newsreport contends that “mining would have ‘very little’ environmental impact,” and that “those who claim mining will lead to pollution are being ‘extremely alarmist’ and disingenuous.” http://bit.ly/2t9y3vd

[OPINION] Sen. Bob Worsley is done with Arizona politics. Here’s what he hopes we learn from that. “Bob Worsley is one of a handful of moderate Republicans in the Arizona Legislature. But he decided not to run again.” And who better to explain the decision to bow out than Bob Worsley himself. Also from AZCentral, this RELATED item: “Attorney General says his mother’s name was forged on Arizona Senate candidate’s petition.” ALSO available, this from AZ Cap Times: “Kirkpatrick, attorney trade barbs over her residency.” And just when you thought we were finished adding on articles ad nauseam, here’s a little something from PinalCentral: “GOP CD1 candidate’s petitions challenged.” To collect all four stories, tap it! http://bit.ly/2M2NTP6
