New apartment complexes are opening or have opened recently in the southwest Valley from luxury condominiums in Chandler to urban living in Tempe.
Developers in metropolitan Phoenix are planning to build more than 10,300 new apartments this year, a study by RentCafe, a nationwide apartment search website, shows.
That’s 55 percent more apartments than last year.
On Phoenix’s east side, Tempe will see the most new inventory with 1,915 apartment units planned, according to the study. Chandler is expected to add 1,075 and Scottsdale is third with 1,030 apartment units planned, the study reports. Gilbert and Mesa are expected to add around 400 to 500 apartments each.
