Casa Grande panel says 2 homeowners must remove 2nd driveways

Two neighbors in the Mission Valley neighborhood will have to remove secondary driveways following a decision by the planning commission.

Two homeowners in the neighborhood built secondary driveways last fall, Casa Grande Planning and Zoning commissioners heard at their meeting Wednesday night. However, neither homeowner had the required city approval in order to do so. The owners did have permission from the local homeowners association, however.

One of the owners, RJ Smith, told commissioners that he needed the expanded driveway so he could get a truck in his backyard to park it and didn’t intend to park on the concrete surface. Smith contended that he checked the city code repeatedly to ensure he was in compliance.
