Glendale approved its total budget for the coming fiscal year — a $689 million total budget.

The budget for fiscal year 2018-19, which starts July 1 and ends June 30, 2019, is a 2.5 percent increase from this year’s budget.

“I do like the budget,”Mayor Jerry Weiers said during the a council meeting. “There are some things that obviously, I think all of us including the city management, would have liked to have done different, but the fact is, you’ve only got so much money.”

The budget includes funding construction of a new library at Heroes Park, 8300 W. Bethany Home Road, capital improvements to many city parks, pavement improvements around the city, new positions and equipment for the Glendale Police Department, infrastructure improvements to water treatment plants, capital improvements to Skunk Creek Wash for flood control and increased staff and equipment for code compliance.
