Mistrial declared in bribery case involving Arizona Corporation Commission

A federal judge on Tuesday declared a mistrial in the bribery case involving a former Arizona Corporation Commissioner and the Johnson Utilities water company.

The jury told U.S. District Court Judge John Tuchi that they were unable to reach a unanimous verdict.

He called them into the courtroom and polled them one by one. They agreed that they were unable to come to a verdict and Tuchi dismissed them

Tuchi set an Aug. 13 deadline for briefs from the various attorneys on how they should proceed, and whether they should retry the case.
