Phoenix business leader, political adviser dies after setting himself on fire

Paul Lopez, a local business leader and Democratic adviser to several former Phoenix mayors, died Tuesday after setting himself on fire near a Phoenix church, reports said.

Lopez was founder and CEO of the Endeavor Agency, a public affairs company he ran for 27 years.

Phoenix Police said he set himself on fire at the Church for the Nations in Phoenix.

He was found in the parking lot with severe burns and was taken to a hospital in extremely critical condition, where he later died, according to a report by The Arizona Republic.
