Coolidge Mayor Jon Thompson is running unopposed in the 2018 election after challenger Scott Koch has been disqualified.

In June, Koch was one of several candidates around Pinal County to have signatures on his petition challenged in court.

The complaint challenged 36 signatures on the petition for election.

City Clerk Norma Ortiz said the city was served by a process server on June 14. A hearing was held June 18 at the Pinal County Superior Court, where it was found that 17 of the 71 signatures Koch collected were found to be disallowed.

To be listed as a qualified candidate on the ballot, Koch needed 62 valid signatures.
