For the second outing in a row, Zack Greinke gave the Diamondbacks an outing his teammates felt carried added significance. And for the second time in a row, Greinke gave the equivalent of a shoulder shrug in his postgame session with reporters.
“Today,” he said after a breezy, 6-2 win over the San Diego Padres, “was definitely just another game.”
For some in the Diamondbacks’ clubhouse, that didn’t seem to be the case, not after watching a two-run lead and a potential series victory evaporate in short order on Thursday afternoon at Wrigley Field, where the Chicago Cubs made a quick and stunning ninth-inning comeback.
