After some controversy and years of construction, the Southside student housing development known as The Hub received its certificate of occupancy Monday, allowing students to begin moving in to the building today.
The 591-bed apartment complex, which fought its way through city council meetings and the courts, was originally built by Core Campus but is now being managed by American Campus Communities.
But with the imminent influx of almost 600 new residents to the Southside, many businesses are left wondering how the complex’s opening may affect their bottom lines and the neighborhood as a whole.
