Flagstaff will be losing a business that has served the city for 38 years, but it’s not a small Route 66 classic.
Sears Holdings Corporation announced Thursday it will be closing the Sears location at the Flagstaff Mall. The closure of the Flagstaff store comes alongside the end for 45 other Sears and Kmart stores that the company said have been unprofitable.
According to documents on the Sears Holdings website, the location will shut the doors of its auto center by the end of August and all 46 locations will close by the end of November. Sears managers would not comment on the upcoming closure, but one employee said they were told the store would remain open for a few months. Liquidation sales at the locations are expected to begin as early as Aug. 30.
