Lopez, Roe, Orlando take early leads in Chandler City Council race

Chandler Vice Mayor Rene Lopez, Councilman Terry Roe and former Chandler Council member Matt Orlando were leading in the City Council election, early results showed Tuesday night.

Matt Eberle was trailing Orlando by 309 votes as of 8 p.m.

“It’s pretty close,” Orlando said by phone to The Arizona Republic. Orlando was still confident he would clinch the seat and added he has “complete respect” for his opponents in the race.

In all, six candidates are running for three open council seats.
