Sedona firm looks at short-term rental issues

Short-term vacation rentals have been popular in the greater Sedona area for many years, even when it was illegal to do so.

And while it’s not known how many were on the market back then, the data is almost as cloudy since the practice became legal more than 18 months ago.

But just how many homes are currently vacation rentals? The number that has been batted around for a while now is 900 to 1,000. Soon, a more specific number will be found thanks to STR Helper, a firm that specializes in this area of data gathering which the city has hired.
