City Council members will vote Monday on whether to accept a grant that would help pay for street improvements for a road adjacent to the proposed Lucid Motors plant.
The grant, which PinalCentral first reported on in July, would be for $500,000 to cover part of the cost of improving Selma Highway and would “have a direct impact on travel efficiency around this project area while having a positive impact on city revenues,” according to information from the city of Casa Grande. The project is to construct a portion of Selma from Thornton Road to about a half mile west of Thornton.
The entire Selma Highway project near the Lucid site is expected to cost the city more than $1.5 million, but the grant would offset a portion of that cost.
