The recently constructed restaurant and clubhouse at the Papago Golf Course are being named after Lou Grubb, the owner of a number of local car dealerships and a golf enthusiast.

After more than a year of construction, the Lou Grubb Clubhouse and Lou’s Bar & Grill opened to the public in September. Papago Golf Course, at 5595 E. Moreland St. in Phoenix, is a public course, but its revitalization project was done through a three-way, public-private partnership between the city of Phoenix, Arizona State University and the Arizona Golf Community Foundation, a nonprofit that promotes public golf.

AGCF helped to secure funding for the $5 million project, which included a large donation from the Lou and Evelyn Grubb Foundation.
