An electric carmaker is one step closer to coming to Casa Grande.
Lucid Motors, an electric vehicle start-up company, announced early Monday it had secured funding to the tune of $1 billion from the Saudi Arabian kingdom for production of the Lucid Air. Pinal officials are cautiously optimistic that the funding is the next step toward the plant’s opening.
Casa Grande City Manager Larry Rains said: “We are very excited to learn that Lucid Motors has secured financing for the construction phases of their project. Lucid Motors has worked diligently to secure the necessary financing to build their manufacturing plant and commence production of their electric vehicles here in Casa Grande. Today’s announcement indicates they are one step closer to achieving this vision.”
