The Diamondbacks were officially eliminated from playoff contention on Sunday, getting squeezed out even before their 2-0 loss to the Colorado Rockies was complete.
Earlier in the day, the St. Louis Cardinals beat the San Francisco Giants, ending the Diamondbacks’ chances of claiming the second wild-card spot. A couple of hours later, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres, killing the Diamondbacks’ chances in the National League West.
Just a few minutes after the Dodgers’ win, the Diamondbacks went down in order in the ninth inning against the Rockies.
