More new homes will be coming to Casa Grande, from a builder new to the city.

On Thursday, Casa Grande Planning and Zoning Commissioners approved a housing product line offered by Starlight Homes by Ashton Woods for 140 new homes in the family section of Mission Royale.

The homes will be built in the neighborhood’s southwest corner, adjacent to Interstate 10. Starlight Homes will offer eight floor plans ranging from 1,100 square feet to 3,100 square feet. The 24 existing homes nearby, built previously by Meritage, range from 1,350 to 2,577 square feet. One neighbor from the active adult section of Mission Royale, which is across Earley Road, voiced concerns that the new homes will be smaller than those existing; she said her home is 2,200 square feet.

No one from Starlight Homes was available to speak with commissioners. The company’s website boasts homes starting at $182,990, although it was unknown how much homes might go for in Casa Grande. Homes are being built by the company in San Tan Valley and Maricopa as well.
