Community members will be able to ask questions of the company managing water and sewer services in San Tan Valley.
Representatives from EPCOR Water will host an open house for customers of Johnson Utilities to ask questions and to better understand EPCOR’s interim management of Johnson, said EPCOR spokeswoman Rebecca Stenholm.
Earlier this year the Arizona Corporation Commission appointed EPCOR to serve as the interim manager for Johnson Utilities, a private water and wastewater company in Pinal County. Johnson had been plagued with problems regarding water quality and sewage spills, and owner George Johnson was indicted on bribery charges with former regulator Gary Pierce. The case against Pierce was dropped after a hung jury.
“Developers, homebuilders, and citizens in the San Tan Valley area are all anxiously awaiting the results of EPCOR’s thorough review of Johnson Utilities’ infrastructure. Hopefully this meeting will be an opportunity for the public to hear all the good things that EPCOR is doing to help right the beleaguered Johnson Utilities ship.”
