Florence citizens share ideas for town budget

Hire a marketing company to get the word out on Florence’s special events; provide “period attire” for the people running Florence’s annual tour of historic homes and buildings; stage demonstrations of historic crafts like blacksmithing, gunsmithing, candle-making and cobbling; and have a barn-raising dance with fiddle music.

These were a few of the ideas town officials should consider in their next budget, as suggested by Councilwoman-elect Judy Hughes.

The town held a meeting, hosted by Deputy Town Manager/Town Clerk Lisa Garcia and Finance Director Joe Jarvis, on Oct. 3 at Town Hall to gather ideas for how to make the town a better place to live, work and play. Approximately a dozen people attended.
