Glendale’s city manager is recommending selling Glen Lakes Golf Course to a developer.
The course — nine holes at 55th and Northern avenues — is run down and losing money. Instead of investing millions to bring it up to par, City Manager Kevin Phelps said the city should sell the land and use money from the sale to renovate long-neglected city parks.
“If we are going to start fixing our parks,” he said, “we have to start somewhere.”
Phelps made the recommendation at a Glendale City Council workshop Tuesday. The course is one of two owned by the city.
