Despite expressing their frustrations over language in a potential agreement with a utility company and home builders, the Arizona Corporation Commission agreed to give the parties an additional three days to come to terms.
The commission voted Monday to approve an additional 72-hour stay on new hookups as talks continue on an agreement between EPCOR Water — the company that’s been tasked with managing Johnson Utilities — and Pinal home builders, the town of Queen Creek and other assorted parties.
Queen Creek officials brought forth an agreement that would allow the town to take control of 10,500 undeveloped lots, potentially taking the strain off the already taxed Johnson infrastructure. But EPCOR Vice President Troy Day said the company hadn’t seen the town’s proposal as written and couldn’t agree to any stipulations.
