ADOT continues work on Pinal roadways

By Heather Smathers | Casa Grande Dispatch

Work continues on several Pinal County roadways, officials said.

Tom Herrmann, a spokesman with the Arizona Department of Transportation, said crews will install a new bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad at State Route 87 and Interstate 10. Pouring the deck on that bridge will begin Thursday morning.

“When it’s complete, drivers won’t notice much difference, other than slightly wider lanes,” Herrmann said.

In fact, the bridge width is intentionally larger to accommodate a future expansion of the rail tracks should Union Pacific expand in that area.

In December, ADOT crews will open the new westbound lanes on Interstate 10 at mileposts 209 through 213, near Picacho. Herrmann said some overnight restrictions would be in place, although a full closure isn’t likely.
