Peoria Real Estate Development Officer Scott Whyte is working with the owner of a parcel of land in the heart of the city. It is along Grand Avenue and wraps itself around the new primary care center under construction at the intersection of Grand and Cotton Crossing.
The parcel is called Peoria Place. At one time, more than a decade ago, there were elaborate plans drawn up showing the land (minus Cotton Crossing, which wasn’t even on the drawing board) as a potential site for a university.
It never happened, and the property on each side of Cotton Crossing remains zoned for residential.
During a phone conversation last week, Whyte said, “I’m working with the owner of Peoria Place to see if we can change the zoning on the property. Maricopa Integrated Health System changed the dynamic for the property; perhaps industrial and some has mixed-use potential.
