Glendale to close Glen Lakes Golf Course for good after temporary reopening

Glen Lakes Golf Course is set to close for good by this spring.

A Glendale City Council majority agreed Tuesday the city should temporarily reopen the course, which the city shut down earlier this month for building safety concerns, for 90 days until its contract with the course operator can be terminated.

But, then, the council majority agreed it will be best to sell at least a portion of the land for development, after hearing from residents about what they want for the property.

The city plans to reopen the course within the next few days using a temporary clubhouse and setup.

Mayor Jerry Weiers said the decision was “very, very painful” for the council, but it was the best way forward.
