Pinal County is gearing up to market its “Opportunity Zones,” new magnets for economic development in which big investors can shelter their capital gains.
One of the county’s bigger Opportunity Zones is bordered by much of Florence on the west, U.S. 60 on the north and the Gila County line on the east. Another includes a chunk of Casa Grande and much of the area west of Interstate 10 down to the Pima County line.
A big portion of Coolidge, between Arizona Boulevard and Attaway Road, is also an Opportunity Zone. In fact, every incorporated city or town in Pinal County is at least partially in an Opportunity Zone except for the city of Maricopa, according to Pinal County Economic Development Manager Tim Kanavel.
“We are seeing some renewed life pumped into projects throughout Pinal County because of their O-Zone designation.”
