Surprise’s longest-standing council member will serve as mayor of the growing northwest Valley city for the next two years.
The Surprise City Council appointed Councilman Skip Hall on Tuesday as the city’s new mayor.
Hall, who has been on the council since 2008, will serve as mayor for the remainder of former Mayor Sharon Wolcott’s term, until Dec. 31, 2020.
The council was charged with selecting Wolcott’s replacement from the six sitting council members. Vice Mayor Ken Remley nominated Skip Hall and the council voted unanimously for his appointment. There were no other nominations.
