City leaders may advance a new apartment complex project proposed for construction in the Original Town Site of Surprise, which has been opposed by some living nearby.
The Surprise Planning & Zoning Commission will consider approval of a site plan for Heritage at Surprise, an apartment complex aimed at low-income residents, at the panel’s regular meeting 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 in Council Chambers at City Hall, 16000 N. Civic Center Plaza.
Council approved an intergovernmental agreement, funding agreement and ground lease for the project at the Nov. 20 regular meeting, establishing a public-private partnership with the Housing Authority of Maricopa County, which will manage the city-owned property along with general contractor Gorman & Company.
