U-Haul proposes, retail, rental, storage storefront

A large proposed U-Haul facility is on the agenda for consideration during the Wickenburg Planning and Zoning Commission meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 at town hall.

U-Haul and AMERCO Real Estate Co., represented by Nicole Hosking, have requested approval of a development review for a proposed U-Haul mini-warehouse, automobile rental and retail facility. The property where the facility is proposed is approximately 16 acres, owned by Woody Grantham, at the northwest corner of U.S. 93 and Scenic Loop Road and is adjacent to the cell phone tower which is disguised as a water tower near the entrance to Wickenburg Ranch. Surrounding property is vacant and is zoned commercial and residential, according to information on the P&Z agenda.

The site plan depicts several buildings with western facades. The primary structure is two stories, built into a steep hill, so the top story is visible from the highway but the bottom story is somewhat hidden, according to the application.
