An electric vehicle manufacturer is on target for a spring groundbreaking for its proposed Casa Grande manufacturing plant, officials said.
David Salguero, a spokesman for Lucid Motors, told PinalCentral the groundbreaking for Phase 1 is being planned.
The 500-acre site on the southwest corner of Thornton and Peters roads has been secured by the California-based start-up company, Salguero said. Pinal County purchased the property through bonds that the company will repay over the next several years.
Salguero said Lucid plans to construct 20,000 Lucid Air vehicles, all-electric luxury sedans, at the plant. Production will begin in 2020, he added.
