5 things to know if short-term rentals are moving into your neighborhood

Nearly 26,000 homes, apartments, condos, RVs and bedrooms in metro Phoenix are on Airbnb for short-term rentals.

A state law in 2016 allowed the vacation rentals to flourish, whether listed through the popular Airbnb, VRBO or other websites.

Some homeowners appreciate the opportunity to make money renting their homes to visitors for short stays. Others say the short-term rentals can create problems, from special events being held in neighborhoods to housing shortages.
