Glen Lakes Golf Course in Glendale will close for good on Sunday, after a tumultuous year between the city and residents who wanted to save the course.
What comes next, city officials promise, will be a public and transparent process to decide the best use for the land.
For much of 2018, residents opposed to the golf course’s sale expressed frustration that they weren’t being heard as the City Council considered whether to close the city-owned course — nine holes at 55th and Northern avenues.
The Save Glen Lakes group circulated a petition, and dozens showed up at council meetings to protest.
