Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers covered much ground at his recent State of the City address, which he delivered at the Renaissance Glendale Phoenix Hotel and Spa March 7.
Marking the event’s 68th anniversary, he praised the city’s achievements, from securing companies like Ball Corporation and Red Bull, to planned park improvements and the city’s ever-popular sports sector.
But Weiers began by thanking the chamber, its board of directors, city council the city manager and his own staff for the hours they dedicate to the city. He also gave a nod to military members who were guests of the chamber’s military affairs committee.
But once he got down to business, he extolled the virtues of city council, which he credited with the city’s 180-degree financial turnaround over the past five years.
