City purchases land in Old Town Peoria

The city will purchase five properties in Old Town Peoria near the northeast corner of 83rdAvenue and Jefferson Street.

Peoria City Council unanimously approved the acquisition, May 7.

Real Estate Development Officer Scott Whyte said the purchase is part of an ongoing land acquisition program in Old Town Peoria intended to further revitalization efforts in the area.

“This has been an area of interest for past land acquisitions for the city and is a key corner in the Old Town area,” Mr. Whyte said.
