Data centers are on the agenda for tonight’s meeting of the Coolidge City Council in Pinal County.
The Coolidge council is considering zoning changes to allow data centers on land with agricultural, industrial and commerce park zoning. The city would also formally define and write data centers into its zoning code under the proposal being considered.
Technology companies have been landing and expanding data center developments in Maricopa and Pinal counties including in the West Valley and East Valley suburbs of Phoenix. Coolidge is 55 miles south of Phoenix.
Jordan Rose, president and founder of Rose Law Group, which is handling data center developments, says, “Coolidge is wise to adopt policies to make it as business friendly as possible to this desirable use. Creating an opportunity or zoning will not delay a project, plus the fact that Coolidge has some land that is perfectly situated at the junction of major fiber assets, makes it compelling for sure.”
