Glendale is moving closer to connecting the Westgate Entertainment District, Gila River Arena and State Farm Stadium to the Camelback Ranch Spring Training Project.

The Glendale City Council will vote on a design services contract with Salt River Project next week related to the Ball Park Boulevard Extension Project.

The city is extending to Ball Park Boulevard from Cactus League home of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox to the Westgate area.

The new design contract is for $136,719, according to city documents. SRP will design more than 5,000 linear feet of primary conductor cable along the route.

The Glendale council will vote on the SRP contract May 14. The city has already awarded a $5 million construction contract for the roadway to Haydon Building Corp.

The project connects Camelback Road to Maryland Avenue.  Mattany Homes is funding part of the project which straddles the border between Phoenix and Glendale. Mattany is building homes along the route and is paying for part of the roadway construction.
