New high-rise apartment tower opens downtown

Disclosure: Rose Law Group once represented the developer of The Stewart

A new apartment tower has opened in downtown Phoenix.

The Stewart, an $80 million multifamily project at Central Avenue and McKinley Street, celebrates its grand opening May 22 after years of being in the works.

Jim Poulin, photo editor with the Phoenix Business Journal, recently took a tour of the Stewart ahead of the official opening. Take a look at the new apartment tower in the accompanying gallery above this article.

The 19-story high-rise sits on the site of the former Circles Records store, which shuttered in 2010. The building, which was built in 1946 and started life as an auto dealership, sat vacant until 2016 when Empire Commerical Development LLC — an arm of Scottsdale-based Empire Group — bought it for $2.65 million.
