The city of Phoenix added 25,288 new residents in 2018. That is the most of any U.S. city, according to new numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau.
It is the third year in a row for Phoenix to hold the fastest growing city title. Phoenix has a population of more than 1.66 million people, according to the Census Bureau.
San Antonio was the second fastest growing city adding 20,824 new residents last year.
The Census numbers are for July 2017 to July 2018.
Buckeye topped the list for the fastest growing U.S. cities ranked by percentage growth.
Buckeye grew by 8.5 percent last year and now has 74,370 residents. New Braunfels, Texas came in second with 7.2 percent growth.
Phoenix ranks as the fifth largest U.S. city. New York is the most populous American city with 8.4 million residents.
