Popular Gilbert restaurant closes, potentially opening up Heritage Square spot

Grubstak has closed its restaurant location in downtown Gilbert’s popular restaurant row area.

That could open up a prime spot in Gilbert’s Heritage Square district which has become one of the Southwest’s top foodie destinations.

Grubstak still has a location in Chandler and is looking for a Gilbert spot where it can have a full bar. The eatery, which has been featured by Food Network’s Guy Fieri, did not have a full bar at its previous Gilbert location.

Downtown Gilbert has become a popular restaurant destination. Culinary Dropout at The Yard just opened there joining the likes of Barrio Queen, Postino’s, Liberty Market, Pomo Pizzeria, Oregano’s and Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row.

The Gilbert Town Council has also just approved a development deal selling Heritage Square area land to Heritage North Partners LLC for 500,000 square foot development that will include Class A office space, 250 apartments and 150-room hotel.

Heritage North is a joint venture of DMB Associates and LGE Design Build.
