More housing proposed in downtown Mesa

More housing could me coming to downtown Mesa.

Huellmantel Affiliates has put in a request with the city of Mesa to expand the Residences on First apartments on First Avenue and MacDonald.

The complex currently has 24 units. Huellmantel wants to build an additional 72 units at the development near Main Street. Those new units would be built across three buildings.

Mesa’s Planning and Zoning Board will hear about the plans at its Wednesday meeting. The city and Mayor John Giles want to bring more housing to the Main Street area and Mesa’s stretch of Metro light rail.
