Phoenix named among top large cities in the U.S., report says

Phoenix has been named one of the country’s top large cities, according to a new report.

The Arizona capital landed at No. 18 on the annual list, according to the 2019 America’s Best cities report from Vancouver-based Resonance Consultancy. That was just ahead of Philadelphia (No. 19) and just behind Austin (No. 17). Tucson ranked 37th on the list.

The report is based on a survey of locals and visitors, and measures cities large and small across the U.S. according to six categories: promotion, prosperity, place, programming and product. The study considers the importance of culture, infrastructure and the number of large companies — among many other factors — to determine what attracts locals and visitors to a city.
