Tempe City Hall and its inverted pyramid design to get renovations

Renovations will start Monday at Tempe City Hall.

The architecturally unique inverted pyramid City Hall will get a new reception area, new restrooms, upgraded technology and audio systems, new seating and more efficient air conditioning, heating and plumbing systems.

Dick & Fritsche Design Group and Core Construction are handling the renovations which will also make sound systems improvements to improve experiences for the hard of hearing.

City Hall won’t reopen for public meeting until 2020. The Tempe City Council and other city panels will move their meetings the Tempe History Museum.

Tempe City Hall opened in 1971.
