Union Station in downtown Phoenix is for sale. The former train station has been listed by commercial real estate firm CBRE.

Union Station was built in 1923 but has not hosted trains since 1996. Union Pacific leases space at the 7.29-acre Phoenix station site. Sprint Communications owns the station and operates a switch center there. Sprint wants to vacate the building by 2020 but would still use the property for cell phone towers, according to the CBRE listing.

Union Pacific’s lease at the site runs until March 2023.

Union Station is at 401 West Harrison Street in downtown. The property can qualify for city and federal historic preservation, sustainability and Opportunity Zone tax credits.

Union Station is a prime example of Mission Revival Architecture. Amtrak doesn’t run directly into Phoenix with its Los Angeles to New Orleans service stopping in Maricopa. CBRE has not listed an asking price for the train station property.
