The Phoenix City Council has approved zoning changes at Central Avenue and Indian School Road for a proposed large development next to Steele Indian School Park.
The midtown Phoenix land has long been vacant and long been eyed for major development.
Central Park I LLC, an arm of Scottsdale-based Pivotal Group, wants to build the Central Park development on the site after acquiring the land via a federal auction. As many as six office and residential towers as well as a hotel and potentially a movie theater are proposed at the Phoenix site.
The land was previously owned by Barron Collier Companies, which acquired the Phoenix land via a federal land swap. The land reverted to the U.S. government when Barron Collier Companies stopped making payments.
