A bigger West Valley Desert Diamond Casino is on schedule to open in January.

The Tohono O’odham Nation is building the new 75,000 square-foot casino with five dining spots near 93rd and Northern avenues. The casino will be more than twice the size of the temporary casino that opened there in 2015.

Construction began in December 2017 and the casino and parking garages are now taking shape near Loop 101.

“We are super excited to be ready to be providing a new fun facility for our guests,” said Treena Parvello, a spokeswoman for the Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise.
