Interest in Tempe’s tiny home community has exceeded expectations.
Newtown Community Development Corporation, which is building the small homes and is hosting an meeting in August, has switched to a larger venue and added a second session to accommodate the more than 100 people who have already RSVP’d to attend.
David Crummey, Newtown’s real estate development manager, said the organization also received messages from people outside of Arizona looking for similar projects in their areas.
Newtown is building 13 homes that are 600 square feet on city-owned land near the Jen Tilly Terrace neighborhood in downtown Tempe. Construction is expected to begin this winter and be completed around mid-2020.
